Why your business needs an app

8 December 2017

If you think that mobile apps are just for the big businesses of the world, you are wrong. More and more savvy small to midsize businesses understand that harnessing the power of mobile is a surefire way to get the attention of and engage their consumers.

A recent survey by Doloitte found that collectively, Australians look at their smartphones more than 440 million times a day. They found that more than half the population check their smartphone within 15 minutes of waking, interacting continuously throughout the day without being prompted until disconnecting and switching off for the night.

The mobile phone has become a remote control for life for many of its users and by not providing an opening to connect to your business that is but a fingertip away is a lost opportunity.
Here are 3 benefits to getting your business an app and get yourself ahead of the game.

1. Visibility, build your brand and recognition

A mobile app is like blank canvas and a great opportunity for you to design something truly unique for your customers to love. And once they love it, the more they will become involved with your app. In advertising, effective frequency is the number of times a person is exposed to a message or brand before a response is made (approximately 20). Divide that number by the amount of times people look at their smart phones each day and you have yourself large brand exposure.

2. Improve Customer Engagement

Apps can tell us a lot about our customer behavior. Who our customers are. Where are they from. How often do they view our app. Now take that one step further by adding a feedback function or an in-app pluggin like appee and you will have specific and valuable information about you customers. A lost opportunity is not engaging digitally with your market.

3. Create a direct marketing channel

Today, apps serve multiple functions. Sharing information, booking forms, price lists, schedules, search features, news feeds and more.

But a huge benefit to having a mobile app is providing sales information to your customer right at their fingertips – any day, any time. Remember at the start of this piece how frequently we reach for our smart phone? With push notifications you are able to remind your customers about your services and products whenever you like. Whether we are ready for it or not, a mobile app is going to be a standard part of business in the future. It’s up to you to decide whether you’d like to be one ahead of the game.
